FAQ

Answers to the questions we hear most about Spatial Companion - connectivity, content, devices, and more.

Get Started

Do I need an internet connection?

An internet connection is only required to set up the Apple Vision Pro with your device. Once connected, an internet connection is no longer required.

Do users need Guest Mode access?

No. Users don't need Guest Mode to use Spatial Companion.

Do I need a powerful Wi-Fi router for the experience?

No. Spatial Companion doesn't use casting or camera access. The video feed is synced locally, so only lightweight data like position and timing is exchanged - a small router is more than enough.

Manage Device

If I pair the Apple Vision Pro with my Mac and then lend it to someone, how does the user operate it?

The Apple Vision Pro stays associated with your Spatial Companion account, not with a specific Mac. If the other user signs in with the same account on another Mac or iPhone, they will find the device already associated and can operate it right away.

How can you pair 10 or more Apple Vision Pro devices to the same device?

To connect 10 Apple Vision Pro devices to the same device, you will be asked to purchase the Enterprise Plan. To connect more than 20 Apple Vision Pro devices to the same device, please contact us.

How many Apple Vision Pro can I connect at the same time?

It depends on your subscription plan. With the Pro Monthly plan, you can connect only one Apple Vision Pro at a time. With the Enterprise Monthly plan, you can connect 20 Apple Vision Pro devices simultaneously. If you wish to connect more than 20 devices at a time, please contact us.

Assets Guide

Where can I find some content?

For 360° videos, standard videos, PDF documents, websites, portal experiences, spatial experiences, and 180° videos, you can find content by searching online.

For 3D models, you can download .usdz files from our 3DtoMe app.

Apple Immersive Videos can be found on the Blackmagic Design website.

How does the Portal Experience work, and what content can I upload for it?

Portal Experience supports the following formats: .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .exr, .hdr, .mp4, .mov, .usd.

After uploading a supported file, name the asset, add a description, and click Add to confirm. When you share the content with Apple Vision Pro users, the uploaded asset is automatically placed in a portal that users can walk into to explore.

Is my content synced across my devices?

No, not by default. All content is stored offline on the device where you upload it. You can choose to sync a content to the cloud to back it up, or to make it available when you sign in with the same account on a different device (like an iPad for events).

Share Content

Can I show different content on different devices?

Yes. When you tap Share, select the Apple Vision Pro devices you want to share the content with. For example, to share an Apple Immersive Video with three Apple Vision Pro devices, select those three devices. For 3D models, simply select the additional devices you want to include in the sharing session.

Can I sync and start an experience, like an Apple Immersive Video, on all connected devices at once?

Yes! You can start and sync the experience with a single button to share it with all the connected devices at the same time.

How do I switch the view from one Apple Vision Pro to another?

When several Apple Vision Pro devices are viewing different content, go to the Live View page to see what the device you've selected (shown in the top bar) is seeing. If you go to the Devices page and select another device, you can see what that user is seeing.

Advanced Settings

Can I customize the portal?

The Portal Experience uses a default portal created by us, and it cannot be customized. If you would like a personalized experience, please contact us.

Can I move an experience and change where users see it inside the device?

Yes. By default, every experience appears 2 metres away from the user and 1 metre above the floor. You can completely change these aspects from the Advanced settings on each content, adjusting the Position and Scale to place and resize the experience however you like.

What formats are required for 3D to make it explode?

A 3D model must be a .usdz file. To enable the explosion feature, the model must contain at least two meshes. When you upload a 3D model, before you click “Add”, Spatial Companion tells you whether the model contains one or multiple meshes and whether the Explode feature can be enabled.

Can I add more languages and subtitles to my Apple Immersive Video?

Yes, you can. Go to the asset and click Edit. Add subtitles as .vtt files, and add new languages as .mp4 files with spatial audio.

What happens if I have one immersive video with different languages for the user?

In that case, before the experience starts, the user sees a flag selection they can touch - no tap or eye tracking required - to choose their preferred language and start the video.

How do I remove the languages and subtitles from the video?

To remove tracks and subtitles from an .aivu video:

  1. Go to the Dashboard.
  2. Select the video you want to edit.
  3. Click the edit button in the top-right corner.
  4. Scroll down.
  5. Delete all the tracks and subtitles by clicking the red button on the right side.

Is it possible, by default, to set the language to English and the subtitles to Spanish in .aivu files without selecting a flag?

Yes. In this case, you need to use a workaround by setting the subtitles to English even if they are in another language. The video will then not display the initial flags.

Feedback Session

Can I view usage statistics?

With the Enterprise plan you can see usage time and content for each device from the main menu. Analytics are broken down by device, session, and content, each with its own KPIs.

Team Settings

Can I change the colours and background of the app?

To change the app's default colour and font, go to Account Settings > Customize App Style.

This feature is currently in progress.

Can I customize the welcome screen messages and logo?

Yes. With the Enterprise plan you can customize the welcome screen - localize the messages in different languages and upload your own logo.

Do you have 2FA?

Yes. You can configure two-factor authentication from Account Settings.
